She wanted a budget-friendly room that would be stylish and serene without being overwhelmingly baby-fied. I thought I would share the boards that I came up with for her:<br />
<br />
This is where the room that they chose to use began:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://stagingbym.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/middle_br1.jpg?w=333&h=500" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://stagingbym.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/middle_br1.jpg?w=333&h=500" width="426" /></a></div>

Here was the plan:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTLMMyBcy6RMuXlru4W9ioVuzjphnjSebK1Bh5SZJ7VET30wPhAU_8Vt_wLTNnpW3WWjk1kDlTdvyD-DFG9Lg0qx0rRz8VBUdd1QNye_i0-6MUEh4Jgv9lbAr0dY6FQNwzOhTnP7Ui6Jsq/s1600/monica+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTLMMyBcy6RMuXlru4W9ioVuzjphnjSebK1Bh5SZJ7VET30wPhAU_8Vt_wLTNnpW3WWjk1kDlTdvyD-DFG9Lg0qx0rRz8VBUdd1QNye_i0-6MUEh4Jgv9lbAr0dY6FQNwzOhTnP7Ui6Jsq/s640/monica+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl4B8JITsOOhz7Ej9qxqhl1wuTCEXAE9egkIC7tM-yKAxgOf45QMR3L2dPX0EIGcwXO-47cOkiyfSJYm0u4hLngj1V6zFL66jfbWH_IIVc2zfz7_GeT9OiHdPCg0Cg52u75MEw0MnUuxMS/s1600/monica+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl4B8JITsOOhz7Ej9qxqhl1wuTCEXAE9egkIC7tM-yKAxgOf45QMR3L2dPX0EIGcwXO-47cOkiyfSJYm0u4hLngj1V6zFL66jfbWH_IIVc2zfz7_GeT9OiHdPCg0Cg52u75MEw0MnUuxMS/s640/monica+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Of course these are just a starting-off point for the room, and design is all about trial and error, but these ideas provide a good base and direction for them.<br />
<br />
They have already gotten a jump start on this room. Check out the new paint job <a href="http://stagingbym.com/2013/01/30/nursery-painting/" target="_blank">HERE</a> and a sneak peek of some things they have already purchased <a href="http://stagingbym.com/2013/02/13/nursery-sneak-peek/" target="_blank">HERE</a>. I am working on some fun pillows for the room and will update once those are finished.<br />
<br />

There are a lot of cute ideas out there, and I decided to try this one this year for my mom. I saw a version of it on <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/66428163225461210/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>.<br />
<br />
What I used:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnZx_UbxMhXvpfnMAr4d2IA3J3m9HW31Jd26QXQVWtI3ZCK4RGGv1yAi-sg15qLFaVjh5yVnSEJfIOhIAxq8Bqwv9lagzCUOlxUmkTWyQwgcvlntvnNmICl5zlbZHxfxM1yHU2JjsrPlRt/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnZx_UbxMhXvpfnMAr4d2IA3J3m9HW31Jd26QXQVWtI3ZCK4RGGv1yAi-sg15qLFaVjh5yVnSEJfIOhIAxq8Bqwv9lagzCUOlxUmkTWyQwgcvlntvnNmICl5zlbZHxfxM1yHU2JjsrPlRt/s640/photo.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
I think this totaled around $10<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLDAsIQKVRHCtC5tQK1i0MYILkUGYZusP2S6l_OWl7Mui7oAO_iyaLctwRmyvbAUdwfbqcA2ihSIi9vf8q_jFgSbgSOAWla1sw4qkj0umbeRXCeghphWpUDWbM_3R6zzA5GVGlCdNfAaxq/s1600/013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLDAsIQKVRHCtC5tQK1i0MYILkUGYZusP2S6l_OWl7Mui7oAO_iyaLctwRmyvbAUdwfbqcA2ihSIi9vf8q_jFgSbgSOAWla1sw4qkj0umbeRXCeghphWpUDWbM_3R6zzA5GVGlCdNfAaxq/s640/013.JPG" width="366" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made a bow using dollar store ribbon, added some retro Target ornaments, and tied it to the hoop. Then I just used clothes pins to attach the cards. So simple!</div>

Such an easy and fun way to display your Season's greetings!Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01097317006753884451noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2301778828561844511.post-41243782588991734722012-10-08T09:00:00.000-05:002012-10-09T14:50:32.011-05:00Vintage Bridal Shower With A Southern TouchI enjoy planning parties as much as I do staging and decorating, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to help with my cousin's bridal shower for her upcoming wedding!<br />
We decided on a traditional brunch and thought finger foods would be best. Finger foods can be fancy though! This was a shower for family and a few lifelong family friends, so we kept it casual and elegant.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5lBA-eFTVmXot1M04C4R2FS7Sd6iF0MhV_GkWS5SyqDoMn4F6V0yoF3S-IOaN-bmJoc_u64JhQ2oB0_KgN99JNHzuADqzZGzz_8MA9HRrhpwEru1YrW4UtVQhXoKbNoo_7t3KZkZzBB9O/s1600/012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5lBA-eFTVmXot1M04C4R2FS7Sd6iF0MhV_GkWS5SyqDoMn4F6V0yoF3S-IOaN-bmJoc_u64JhQ2oB0_KgN99JNHzuADqzZGzz_8MA9HRrhpwEru1YrW4UtVQhXoKbNoo_7t3KZkZzBB9O/s640/012.JPG" width="640" /></a><br />
We stayed simple with all white serving pieces and used my milk glass for the roses. I grouped several vases together to make one long centerpiece (always check the grocery store for their "manager's special" flowers...this usually yeilds some great deals on other wise expensive bouqets!).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL3n_V9f8b64EUrmud9yKFxdTg2JzhKXL0_Ae3msBM6WH3wbCdmp4PkWUQfp9FQFRzZUv_YlzBaGfXSa9P-PI7XTeYx79yScjA5YARZ0CtmMeMkvv_616TtPD_xSePBLvzQiDyDN8KUJW7/s1600/013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL3n_V9f8b64EUrmud9yKFxdTg2JzhKXL0_Ae3msBM6WH3wbCdmp4PkWUQfp9FQFRzZUv_YlzBaGfXSa9P-PI7XTeYx79yScjA5YARZ0CtmMeMkvv_616TtPD_xSePBLvzQiDyDN8KUJW7/s640/013.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
We went with 2 sweets and 2 salty snacks for a good combo. Below were <a href="http://sweetpeaskitchen.com/2011/05/glazed-doughnut-muffins/" target="_blank">glazed doughnut muffins</a> and <a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/lemon-blossoms-recipe/index.html" target="_blank">Paula Dean's lemon blossoms</a> that were both super-yummy!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhulGk_Tj_s2p9KGWIF5yilewK1RQcyVR50v0_SXUO4C2t86fJaiPxGvuGVO3IWnDGSXtS5Eo7qzXeZdsZV9dsCXMr0M_MJjuz-02e6mhFEJp1RPJub4gN1tgIv_-jeuVno6SR6fhS-HWpp/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhulGk_Tj_s2p9KGWIF5yilewK1RQcyVR50v0_SXUO4C2t86fJaiPxGvuGVO3IWnDGSXtS5Eo7qzXeZdsZV9dsCXMr0M_MJjuz-02e6mhFEJp1RPJub4gN1tgIv_-jeuVno6SR6fhS-HWpp/s640/009.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
For salty we went with cheesy sausage min-muffins and <a href="http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/mini_mushroom_sausage_quiches.html" target="_blank">mini-mushroom-and-sausage quiches</a>. It always is nice to label dishes like this in case someone is allergic to a particular food or doesn't like something (Just a piece of card stock and a piece of scrapbook paper is all you need).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUn2dYc_lOzpnv0KKAyOA-HRjJh3S8LyDNJ8rYwDbTo7XbzogiieSyiirOMac7eyaveG6XHwGIW2Cp9Jh40pQ39OgSKVQg4C8RsVfbCqDuSWNpx6QSNOIgRW7L5_MBJWAfijAGN591kfQI/s1600/014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUn2dYc_lOzpnv0KKAyOA-HRjJh3S8LyDNJ8rYwDbTo7XbzogiieSyiirOMac7eyaveG6XHwGIW2Cp9Jh40pQ39OgSKVQg4C8RsVfbCqDuSWNpx6QSNOIgRW7L5_MBJWAfijAGN591kfQI/s640/014.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
We also went a little non-traditional with the fruit and made mini fruit parfaits with whipped cream or on skewers so people could take their pick.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7Scy-x1ZwFWpX00Bxwp-ul_AwjdB047GBKWcxzjgdHz1OkP4_MYgw8nyVslW5qPTxgvbG3RHAKH62ZOtxfjJ3z_hoL33-jzR9t_EDM3IxFzOnnVMswW4uvsyFJ4N6kz5Ty1kc7dEKqJL9/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7Scy-x1ZwFWpX00Bxwp-ul_AwjdB047GBKWcxzjgdHz1OkP4_MYgw8nyVslW5qPTxgvbG3RHAKH62ZOtxfjJ3z_hoL33-jzR9t_EDM3IxFzOnnVMswW4uvsyFJ4N6kz5Ty1kc7dEKqJL9/s640/006.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
My friend <a href="http://sweettreatsbysusan.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Susan</a> did an amazing job with the doily cookies!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6RIQJ2Yadv6OzmvGWcJsISfc5agnq3VdH6vF1qYlSlk6FjUUDim1YgOd4qtGmwrPmaPMuxwZ4qQaEc5FBg05P5ET2b2gNFLmvNckKxxPYzYMZ1vaVU1dHvCFcRd56BSdzYmmfS68ldCjc/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6RIQJ2Yadv6OzmvGWcJsISfc5agnq3VdH6vF1qYlSlk6FjUUDim1YgOd4qtGmwrPmaPMuxwZ4qQaEc5FBg05P5ET2b2gNFLmvNckKxxPYzYMZ1vaVU1dHvCFcRd56BSdzYmmfS68ldCjc/s640/005.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
They were the perfect touch and were exactly what I wanted! If you are in the Jackson, MS area you MUST <a href="http://sweettreatsbysusan.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">check her out</a> if you need any kind of bakery treat!<br />
We used Oma's old doilys as a table runner.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR3gVLKWcp6bqv1_3AUSRAUyvW5_Ee_1TOwWzOyCr6hhQeEFOJMqrD40A-3P8a5mhrD0-TbA9_qvXalj-6cg9VgyVTggQL05mi7Gg94-atoUATowR7KUJx_8FAZ18MP9O1G6Hxj31ObExr/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR3gVLKWcp6bqv1_3AUSRAUyvW5_Ee_1TOwWzOyCr6hhQeEFOJMqrD40A-3P8a5mhrD0-TbA9_qvXalj-6cg9VgyVTggQL05mi7Gg94-atoUATowR7KUJx_8FAZ18MP9O1G6Hxj31ObExr/s640/004.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
We also used a mixture of all of Oma's old china that had been passed down several generations. For utensils I used wooden forks and wrapped them in napkins and twine with a <a href="http://www.eatdrinkchic.com/post.cfm/freebie-bon-appetit-cutlery-tags-part-two" target="_blank">free printable</a> I found online that said "bon appetit". VERY simple but makes a big impact!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkP1bb6D5Wi5wf0LUc4GQJsRGF10S8qsfd4_oox1TtA31zSOCfP9P7ZRfGskAZslfCzPGzBtS0H3wbebGr4Kia7-cfaglrkmfEn5V2Efpl-gL_BrHDuyrFgL10HY6-q_FibU5zVXrbCcqo/s1600/015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkP1bb6D5Wi5wf0LUc4GQJsRGF10S8qsfd4_oox1TtA31zSOCfP9P7ZRfGskAZslfCzPGzBtS0H3wbebGr4Kia7-cfaglrkmfEn5V2Efpl-gL_BrHDuyrFgL10HY6-q_FibU5zVXrbCcqo/s640/015.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
We served a simple punch and used mason jars and striped paper napkins. This cart made the perfect drink station away from the main table.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxBv_Rg9TX10yPA6NI5CsHhjWcJlbcH9fjN8n0fnJtArwoBK5Y513qkMwcaov38y2l-v1tl_afRc28iIIII1Dc2fQU2yzLcOxsmIsx3JlelIqXIQB8mojNTZR5SBbajz0Vdx7Os9_eB9Hg/s1600/011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxBv_Rg9TX10yPA6NI5CsHhjWcJlbcH9fjN8n0fnJtArwoBK5Y513qkMwcaov38y2l-v1tl_afRc28iIIII1Dc2fQU2yzLcOxsmIsx3JlelIqXIQB8mojNTZR5SBbajz0Vdx7Os9_eB9Hg/s640/011.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
We set up a coffee station in another room to keep guests moving (since the house is not that big). This was also where we opened gifts so it kept things flowing. We used Oma's old china for the coffee as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGGyBdeJMbxN-uPYYolsxEzasd6yBsU4lPbX067-_WLVKqTbRU5VTxUkFndeHWyRBGuV1uTIy1POH8YgL6aZ12kWtklczTJrLEjTwj8qRnAQzhMLEz3wshXJoW2sYUcQ1IoHase1hzDmF6/s1600/018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGGyBdeJMbxN-uPYYolsxEzasd6yBsU4lPbX067-_WLVKqTbRU5VTxUkFndeHWyRBGuV1uTIy1POH8YgL6aZ12kWtklczTJrLEjTwj8qRnAQzhMLEz3wshXJoW2sYUcQ1IoHase1hzDmF6/s640/018.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
We set up a gift station near the coffee.<br />

I framed one of the shower invites and used it when decorating. This is an easy way to personlize decor!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2N8XTvu2xPsI0Hqjz827z9Ok1XEMEIlixgpEetFnmpQcWTriCSOsNyIN6-03fV355WTwE97loIF02gOCi6F59iAG0OWUjwYY-SQ50yDvYRj8V0ms_LaBlij3IvhjEcHZtsFuzxUWqkWvw/s1600/020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2N8XTvu2xPsI0Hqjz827z9Ok1XEMEIlixgpEetFnmpQcWTriCSOsNyIN6-03fV355WTwE97loIF02gOCi6F59iAG0OWUjwYY-SQ50yDvYRj8V0ms_LaBlij3IvhjEcHZtsFuzxUWqkWvw/s640/020.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I also set up a place for everyone to leave the bride "helpful household tips" that she can use! These ladies had years of wisdom and her tips were great! I bought simple cards and printed tape to personalize them. All they had to do was write a quick note and toss them in the basket.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I know, it's been a little while...but that's OK. It's my blog and I can post when I want to...(if you sang that sentence then we are totally on the same page).<br />
I wanted to share a quick side table idea that I put together. I recently sold my den side tables at a yard sale (they had a glass top and shelves on the bottom=super hard to keep clean). So my lamps sat on the floor for a couple of weeks. Then, on two separate Goodwill trips, I picked up a vintage briefcase, and a really awesome giant picnic basket.<br />
I still needed a base, so I scoped out the local neighborhood streets and...SCORE!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

These are vintage Platt suitcases from somewhere around the 30's-50's, and are apparently sort of rare. It made me a little sad that this even has someones initials but was still thrown out. (You can't see the initials unless you pull up the handle)<br />

So for $10 total I have a new side table. And if I need to store things like blankets in the Summer I have a perfect place!<br />
A tip for those of you wanting to find cool things like this for free and don't mind doing a little leg work: drive around your local neighborhoods the night before garbage day. You would be surprised the things that people toss out! The funny thing is that this is exactly what I went looking for and found it on the first try! That never actually happens!<br />

If you are like me, you get several magazine subscriptions and aren't sure what to do with all of them after you've read them or while you are waiting to read them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I like to keep some of mine for tips/recipes so I keep them stacked together and use them as part of my room's decor! If they are kept neatly it doesn't just look like a pile of mail.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd82CcmIiC8xrIqO30U_4stMMKAzjcOiZClmmJywlOSTCKs-NMKibL412XCKlJptXZiPQgGjZshUZcTnGpguYZyfCQfYtrFxxMRg3OwYQyCBfbfp7RQvhyphenhyphenplxuZ1P6E2Hry2ioOX5qasSQ/s1600/035.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd82CcmIiC8xrIqO30U_4stMMKAzjcOiZClmmJywlOSTCKs-NMKibL412XCKlJptXZiPQgGjZshUZcTnGpguYZyfCQfYtrFxxMRg3OwYQyCBfbfp7RQvhyphenhyphenplxuZ1P6E2Hry2ioOX5qasSQ/s640/035.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I love my Mississippi magazines and can't bear to throw away all of the good stuff that is inside, so I use them on top of the table under my TV so it's not just a bare surface. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ997lOrN_40HqZamMxEdhIrZDtkfMGw-AthyBcz9bA4X7udURws7i71S5aIWs3AdWHKvmvgrcdwQTIMBhPQ2DAksw9EPINLnlNeYn0a0XOrfyFqCw7JavgEUEUNYJzGzJgJmQTv0D-HKa/s1600/044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ997lOrN_40HqZamMxEdhIrZDtkfMGw-AthyBcz9bA4X7udURws7i71S5aIWs3AdWHKvmvgrcdwQTIMBhPQ2DAksw9EPINLnlNeYn0a0XOrfyFqCw7JavgEUEUNYJzGzJgJmQTv0D-HKa/s640/044.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
They work perfectly to add some interest without blocking the TV! The white covers give them a sleek look without being distracting.<br />

What do you do with your old magazines? Recycle? Donate? Hoard them like me? I'd love to know!Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01097317006753884451noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2301778828561844511.post-16201627161870602142012-08-19T22:27:00.002-05:002012-08-19T22:27:54.163-05:00Adding Custom Touches to Basic BeddingFor my parents' new <a href="http://opashouse.blogspot.com/2012/08/guest-bedroom-lots-of-updates.html" target="_blank">guest bedroom</a>, I had picked up some basic white pillow cases since they would be seen a little behind the shams. I decided to spruce them up a little to give them a more custom look.<br />
I had these pretty tie-backs that came with the living room drapes that I knew we wouldn't use, and they were the perfect size!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjigrRZ97ceF104WE81HrEwC0K__DgBT2vPjz2KQ3fHXVtC8MIb57michJM1r6j64f4ZmBVhlW2m0VRjanAYj7YJhhsbwtw6c3V2jUc8Z27zVX9v0A8ScLYIT3jdEKFoHa83vERpfcduAqp/s640/033.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjigrRZ97ceF104WE81HrEwC0K__DgBT2vPjz2KQ3fHXVtC8MIb57michJM1r6j64f4ZmBVhlW2m0VRjanAYj7YJhhsbwtw6c3V2jUc8Z27zVX9v0A8ScLYIT3jdEKFoHa83vERpfcduAqp/s640/033.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
See how they turned out <a href="http://opashouse.blogspot.com/2012/08/guest-bedroom-custom-pillow-details.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>!Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01097317006753884451noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2301778828561844511.post-89211589134306528262012-08-16T08:00:00.000-05:002012-08-16T08:42:59.092-05:00Dropcloths: A solution for inexpensive drapesI purchased a dropcloth a little while back to possibly use as some kind of window treatment at my parents' house after looking at the one currently on my bathroom floor (being used as an actual drop cloth) and realizing what a great thickness and natural look it had!<br />
Then I started seeing them used other places by actual designers:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd246/jkomenda/album%202/2550_101675295.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd246/jkomenda/album%202/2550_101675295.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd246/jkomenda/album%202/TriangleHoneymoonTH-Dining-Room-5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd246/jkomenda/album%202/TriangleHoneymoonTH-Dining-Room-5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd246/jkomenda/album%202/550_101587231.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd246/jkomenda/album%202/550_101587231.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Jenny from <a href="http://littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com/2012/07/making-curtains-out-of-drop-cloths.html">Little Green Notebook</a> rounded up a lot more of these pics for BHG...you can see them all <a href="http://www.bhg.com/blogs/better-homes-and-gardens-style-blog/2012/07/24/using-drop-cloths-for-curtains/">HERE</a>.<br />
<br />
Then I saw some in person at a friend's house and they looked great! So I thought we could give it a try. This is a VERY in-progress pic, but you get the idea:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I re-used an old brass rod that I painted oil-rubbed bronze, and then picked up some ORB clip rings at Walmart. I had to hem the drapes since they are 10 ft by 6 ft, but they are a great width for the windows and are nice and thick. And for only $10 a pop, a great deal!<br />

My grandmother had saved several from the 30's. Although we didn't know why she had saved them, they must have meant something to her, otherwise she would have tossed them long ago. <br />
So what do you do with something like this that you know was important to her? Treat it as a piece of art!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL4hG0j7kgFbd1vdKZX6piBEq-5Pp6KvCA60tE-G7ikYC6eirJPHseuRW9YVWfORlYdlG1IQEPRLk2Er0iEAOxi-rwsmEnT0BwMku_qmGk031UF_krXp0v-PaTJL4hwMaDtCeAPzRUwDMt/s640/052.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL4hG0j7kgFbd1vdKZX6piBEq-5Pp6KvCA60tE-G7ikYC6eirJPHseuRW9YVWfORlYdlG1IQEPRLk2Er0iEAOxi-rwsmEnT0BwMku_qmGk031UF_krXp0v-PaTJL4hwMaDtCeAPzRUwDMt/s640/052.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
I used inexpensive document frames from Walmart and just left the cardboard backing off. How great are these? They even still have the postage marks from when they were mailed to her!<br />
<br />
Other items that we used for creative art: old sheet music. Oma was a piano teacher for many years, and she has an awesome collection of music that is in great shape. What better way to honor that part of her life than to feature some of it in the room!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijm5gvHfd4KIBLaviULWUQWB4d71l-7jvoAh5EAct6428eJ9xJmR8ABZBaHt-EV71rPPMy8J7Mly38Y3ciQU-SFViUdOyTIfytxeVyg9FMj1k4onDoRVulZbNWKc8tlW41mqAqlIuLIp1v/s640/044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijm5gvHfd4KIBLaviULWUQWB4d71l-7jvoAh5EAct6428eJ9xJmR8ABZBaHt-EV71rPPMy8J7Mly38Y3ciQU-SFViUdOyTIfytxeVyg9FMj1k4onDoRVulZbNWKc8tlW41mqAqlIuLIp1v/s640/044.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>

Because of this there has also been a re-emergence of the printed fabrics that you saw in many of those sofas from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. The key to using these is to update them with fresh fabrics and accessories. A few examples:<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipeyKSOL0UnqxSsIHw0q7J0j2EI3vX3nQv2YqvoN3icV-rQvgk4Vbzhg9IPJHwJ8aroFZIKZqVdS3xrF4dnhl_PaIPy7AZcV1c1aOmN_7UQzzTSyYjpKw6a_ZZfsZgkVQngoledUmWWuv1/s640/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipeyKSOL0UnqxSsIHw0q7J0j2EI3vX3nQv2YqvoN3icV-rQvgk4Vbzhg9IPJHwJ8aroFZIKZqVdS3xrF4dnhl_PaIPy7AZcV1c1aOmN_7UQzzTSyYjpKw6a_ZZfsZgkVQngoledUmWWuv1/s640/007.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
But we didn't want to actually make any permanent changes to the antique piece. So the solution: fabric!<br />
<a href="http://opashouse.blogspot.com/2012/08/living-room-updating-secretary.html" target="_blank">HERE</a> is the full post on how I did it!Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01097317006753884451noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2301778828561844511.post-36792775662665828852012-08-07T10:17:00.000-05:002012-08-07T10:17:00.556-05:00Inexpensive Pillow FormHow cute are these little lumbar pillows for my mom's side chairs?<br />

Also, if you are wondering how I make most of my pillows, <a href="http://cottagemagpie.com/sewing-crafts/how-to-sew-pillow-cover/" target="_blank">THIS</a> is a great tutorial. You may remember my original post about it <a href="http://midsouthstagers.blogspot.com/2010/01/not-crazy-about-your-couch-try-some.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>. It's a great way to cover a pillow without a zipper but still enabling you to wash it if needed!Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01097317006753884451noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2301778828561844511.post-61653277621036503252012-08-06T20:25:00.000-05:002012-08-06T20:25:36.149-05:00Dresser in DistressWhile helping my parents with their house, I worked on a dresser that was in need of lots of help. I am excited about a new service from Sherwin Williams that I recently discovered! It's called <a href="http://letschipit.com/" target="_blank">Chip It</a> and you use it similar to the Pin It button for pinterest. You can go to the <a href="http://letschipit.com/" target="_blank">Chip It site</a> and grab the button to add to your favorites bar. Then whenever you find a picture you like on a website, you can "Chip It" and it will create an entire color palette for you!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
How useful would this be if you have a statement art piece and want to design a room's color scheme around it?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used this <a href="http://www.jessiemackay.com/collections/all/products/jumping-juniper-24x30" target="_blank">Jessie Mackay</a> piece from my <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/66428163224444749/" target="_blank">pinterest board</a> to try it out:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://chipcards.letschipit.com/JPNu2a_full.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="572" src="http://chipcards.letschipit.com/JPNu2a_full.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
How cool is that? Instant throw pillow and accessory ideas!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also tried it on an inspiration bedroom that I had <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/66428163224403661/" target="_blank">pinned</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://chipcards.letschipit.com/DHWMjH_full.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="550" src="http://chipcards.letschipit.com/DHWMjH_full.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You could even use this for help with accessorizing an <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/66428163224090953/" target="_blank">outfit</a>:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://chipcards.letschipit.com/PeEMqc_full.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://chipcards.letschipit.com/PeEMqc_full.jpg" width="566" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also thought this might be useful when choosing a matte color for a picture you were having framed. Any of these that it selected would work! I love the Seaworthy and Overt Green.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://chipcards.letschipit.com/zQPFV0_full.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="602" src="http://chipcards.letschipit.com/zQPFV0_full.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Just a warning, you are going to want to do this to every picture that you find! I think this is a great idea! And it's so simple to use. It stores all of your "chips" on their site. You just need to sign up.Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01097317006753884451noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2301778828561844511.post-35356694126239605872012-07-18T10:39:00.000-05:002012-07-18T10:40:24.759-05:00Client Work: DrapesYes, I'm still here...I have been going back and forth to Mississippi this Summer so have been a little MIA on the blog. <br />
I wanted to share how drapes can make a big difference in a space. These are cell phone pics because I am awful at remembering my camera, but you will get the idea.<br />

Before: These drapes were dark and dated with a heavy cornice that completely took away from the 9 ft ceilings.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQAJMshg7l32qGWjf3NEKPkGIw3XTo-QFvENIW5qPD08VUCrR4GgCiWhE54GIHK6OPA8_TlTxrm9AuhZ29K59j2VaVOEC9uuFp2V7nu_V-WhqUwNc9pr4109I0sQGHaADwkYDebkQawEh-/s1600/drapes+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQAJMshg7l32qGWjf3NEKPkGIw3XTo-QFvENIW5qPD08VUCrR4GgCiWhE54GIHK6OPA8_TlTxrm9AuhZ29K59j2VaVOEC9uuFp2V7nu_V-WhqUwNc9pr4109I0sQGHaADwkYDebkQawEh-/s640/drapes+before.JPG" width="478" /></a></div>
The rest of the room (as well as her whole house) is beautiful and she wanted something a little more modern to add a little personality to the room.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsPQhZ5tSIDqHlYGWV6V2LUaseiunwKPrGIad_8cvnWpGpaUowS0JQbH-wyTdY03UDosm-DoUikKcbHHodCuHhSeXZ2_yeTpR0ahyphenhyphenAvD24k4czP-MtZiCwl8WldBuO56_t6nKMV-5L5yGT/s1600/drapes+after+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsPQhZ5tSIDqHlYGWV6V2LUaseiunwKPrGIad_8cvnWpGpaUowS0JQbH-wyTdY03UDosm-DoUikKcbHHodCuHhSeXZ2_yeTpR0ahyphenhyphenAvD24k4czP-MtZiCwl8WldBuO56_t6nKMV-5L5yGT/s640/drapes+after+2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
We went with a simple printed fabric pulling color used in other parts of the room. We hung them floor to ceiling with grommets to maximize the look! The fabric was fairly thick but lining them with blackout backer helped give them more structure and keeps them in place.<br />

This week's Thrifted Thursday is a little different. I have been in Mississippi for the past 2 weeks helping go through my grandparents' house. You may remember the post about my grandfather earlier this year <a href="http://midsouthstagers.blogspot.com/2012/01/tribute-to-my-diy-hero.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was a physically and emotionally draining process, but it was also fun to find little treasures along the way. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So this week's finds are from my grandparents' house, and were free. So I definitely consider them "thrifted".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHp3oD6MTDHUff-WTY5Sh1WUGddLXQ1FE2Et618k-q_Ja8MishPTlrmHj-JZPgNL8o1mbFblq4ot4Hf4WEIloLVEt28EAU77YuxAMzJIu4p8pDtvVO3Blp0FhgK2GKNajCnRm808agXDIr/s1600/fan+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHp3oD6MTDHUff-WTY5Sh1WUGddLXQ1FE2Et618k-q_Ja8MishPTlrmHj-JZPgNL8o1mbFblq4ot4Hf4WEIloLVEt28EAU77YuxAMzJIu4p8pDtvVO3Blp0FhgK2GKNajCnRm808agXDIr/s640/fan+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
They had a large collection of Reader's Digest books...every single one from the early 50's to the mid-90's. We gave most away, but I snagged a few of the older ones with fun prints on their covers. These brass deer were sitting on an end table for as long as I can remember, and I thought they would work great with the other little brass critters I have around the house!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQGorJqtw6e9-hDU6YWvMmi1lW8N2rbYF1T_qWKHVkMvrSZySTjkhxcf8T1HFLc_8-6PcjB-ppjjE_WTkETZcwJcJjP7JTuRY_B6FdFIvZmNH4UCpekH4WZ0-liO313fNT0UB9QaCPdSU6/s1600/fan+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQGorJqtw6e9-hDU6YWvMmi1lW8N2rbYF1T_qWKHVkMvrSZySTjkhxcf8T1HFLc_8-6PcjB-ppjjE_WTkETZcwJcJjP7JTuRY_B6FdFIvZmNH4UCpekH4WZ0-liO313fNT0UB9QaCPdSU6/s640/fan+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
I also grabbed this great vintage fan and have been working on cleaning it up since I got home...it still needs some work, but is looking much better...and it works! I'm not sure that I need a fan in the dining room, but that's where it is sitting for now.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTT-AYmauu0Mv-oeI-6NCy8AsZmKY0nPuvFJM62GdlLKo_Q9wkMujqMyatNM6pCIH17PVZI4UjbSxUWwiAM65_w2WO-Ir5-owt08XnuYVnL8SO_SfPXcBVKOC-8vcZAzpLsW-Raw8LBeL6/s1600/fan+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTT-AYmauu0Mv-oeI-6NCy8AsZmKY0nPuvFJM62GdlLKo_Q9wkMujqMyatNM6pCIH17PVZI4UjbSxUWwiAM65_w2WO-Ir5-owt08XnuYVnL8SO_SfPXcBVKOC-8vcZAzpLsW-Raw8LBeL6/s640/fan+3.jpg" width="432" /></a></div>
I'm sure these pieces will migrate around the house, but that space was empty, and they were the perfect fit!<br />
<br />
I also grabbed some vintage/retro pieces that I am selling in my <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/Laurieloo" target="_blank">Etsy shop</a> because we wanted them to go to a collector rather than be split up if given to a thrift store. If you like things like that, take a minute to check it out <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/Laurieloo" target="_blank">HERE</a>! I'll be adding more things in the coming days.<br />

Here are a couple of pics.<br />
From the last <a href="http://midsouthstagers.blogspot.com/2012/05/master-bathroom-progress-report.html" target="_blank">POST</a>, just the base:<br />

The left and right sections will be for hanging, while the middle will be drawers/shelves. There is one more section on the right for hanging that wouldn't fit in the picture. Hey guys!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sorry for flaking on Thrifted Thursday last week! I am still working on that <a href="http://midsouthstagers.blogspot.com/2012/05/thrifted-thursday-in-progress.html" target="_blank">stool</a> that I showed you two weeks ago, but I think the verdict was the ombre paint job, so I'll give you the final results soon!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This week's item is an adorable antique typewriter table that I picked up for a few dollars.</div>

It is metal and has two drop sides that pop up for extra space. It also has a small drawer that needs a little bit of repair. It is still pretty dirty right now and I haven't decided whether I should keep the blue or paint it a crisp new color...input is welcome!!<br />

Linda has a beautiful home, but wanted some fresh updates throughout the space. We are working room by room and we started by tackling her dining room built-ins. She just needed some "staging" help to make her shelves make sense.<br />
Here is one of the shelves before:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg93mEPYIp-IsNENAEiizH2Qvq7N84Yj0GjuTlY7mjsmr-d_xi8fO-IU7ckJqLU16FZdbXevziAKvyE1MVTfonKqQnKwKS75J8TaTC7zHSWMsa8_0nKksNBQfCnwOiesvU83ADTnCNTvGrh/s1600/left+shelf+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg93mEPYIp-IsNENAEiizH2Qvq7N84Yj0GjuTlY7mjsmr-d_xi8fO-IU7ckJqLU16FZdbXevziAKvyE1MVTfonKqQnKwKS75J8TaTC7zHSWMsa8_0nKksNBQfCnwOiesvU83ADTnCNTvGrh/s640/left+shelf+before.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
We pulled all of her blue pieces from around the house and made a collection on the shelves. She also had some great vintage and coffee table books that help add dimension! Just some simple changes.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLSq8eOPk3TCE_NqQG72Ilk0TIzX4MpBUFfz100Z7zHVI4qINas4qMDeOloD0HE2LGo-OxVCJaj7Ps-Q54ETTfD8l9jv9oZ7NTfcU4p77shJoGiaDHgYAXFszTIxUsiciIfHXC1-jmfB8r/s1600/left+shelf+after.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLSq8eOPk3TCE_NqQG72Ilk0TIzX4MpBUFfz100Z7zHVI4qINas4qMDeOloD0HE2LGo-OxVCJaj7Ps-Q54ETTfD8l9jv9oZ7NTfcU4p77shJoGiaDHgYAXFszTIxUsiciIfHXC1-jmfB8r/s640/left+shelf+after.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
Here is a view of both shelves before:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgqWeX3aHEM7rTgVuzA92KkNpkSioVLJlUFSYCZGIfhHFOz2qjQIcjMiS7zGgr-JF9ZXGhE6zGoJCTQ5o-u5ZpS0lfQywRtu09tiKDWMbFGAd848d4IbfhZezEs9lyYrHKdGOnashF6DfT/s1600/whole+room+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="408" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgqWeX3aHEM7rTgVuzA92KkNpkSioVLJlUFSYCZGIfhHFOz2qjQIcjMiS7zGgr-JF9ZXGhE6zGoJCTQ5o-u5ZpS0lfQywRtu09tiKDWMbFGAd848d4IbfhZezEs9lyYrHKdGOnashF6DfT/s640/whole+room+before.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
We took away the fake plants and used the same blue collection from throughout the house on the right hand shelves as well. The chairs were set up for a party, but you get the idea. And by using some fresh blue flowers we pulled the blue from the shelves to the center of the room as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhybczqpUyXecRCUw-rs8w9qfs0rZdfr14iuLoKravAeNHHnZKPe6K9-Hmlk7shSZcu-F3dYi81XYkuu5y5nHNFAMDlF6C2IJDfzeDozG_bf-4PEIdjF0f7Icebb3JDpOCO1vRH-8mTjsbG/s1600/whole+room+after+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhybczqpUyXecRCUw-rs8w9qfs0rZdfr14iuLoKravAeNHHnZKPe6K9-Hmlk7shSZcu-F3dYi81XYkuu5y5nHNFAMDlF6C2IJDfzeDozG_bf-4PEIdjF0f7Icebb3JDpOCO1vRH-8mTjsbG/s640/whole+room+after+1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Next we moved on to the living area. I made a few new pillows to replace the dark and dated ones that she had...I had a helper while measuring :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0dnrnXH32Nk6CS_HXcA6qFal_nYmiNt1NVlAj87TDVKEd78u_i9l4_07w5UwY3RDn9AS34dVntX4vMGmRh7vcf6PIxZ2HpJMCGNs7mCW-Q1byLTp5h5JvKC9IkGR6sPr4bEIYp7KOloJX/s1600/riley+fabric.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0dnrnXH32Nk6CS_HXcA6qFal_nYmiNt1NVlAj87TDVKEd78u_i9l4_07w5UwY3RDn9AS34dVntX4vMGmRh7vcf6PIxZ2HpJMCGNs7mCW-Q1byLTp5h5JvKC9IkGR6sPr4bEIYp7KOloJX/s640/riley+fabric.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I paired the pretty brown, cream and blue print with a complimentary stripe to add some dimension to the pillows. Natural piping finished off the look:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivrF1jnNe7k0fdF56rjjroUsppHhYO-h3N573pjiSPDBgfaIeFr0yMHwr55M2MMUfGytaaFD_orJjzaAdBTXIQZo4f0I6ZCyOzjNvuNn3UBw3j9RVUmvtwf2y7y-rn8rHTIWKab7jCOQ7h/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivrF1jnNe7k0fdF56rjjroUsppHhYO-h3N573pjiSPDBgfaIeFr0yMHwr55M2MMUfGytaaFD_orJjzaAdBTXIQZo4f0I6ZCyOzjNvuNn3UBw3j9RVUmvtwf2y7y-rn8rHTIWKab7jCOQ7h/s640/007.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I am THE WORST at getting "before" pictures, but here is an after with the new pillows and some fresh lillies! We also replaced a dark throw blanket with a bright cream one.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPd_sn6pDPJ-kkcOVJCaue5vnLqZ3Hem7p7gJaUbm80eQs5WaHblMzKddVnkeGP-q5Z6wST2c1JUlDugwA5bHUrJKwGpvZNCSRoAg_CqnO9dNSsoZ5yLRWxlVJ86bX_o5GBhH3hfYD1Da1/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPd_sn6pDPJ-kkcOVJCaue5vnLqZ3Hem7p7gJaUbm80eQs5WaHblMzKddVnkeGP-q5Z6wST2c1JUlDugwA5bHUrJKwGpvZNCSRoAg_CqnO9dNSsoZ5yLRWxlVJ86bX_o5GBhH3hfYD1Da1/s640/009.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
We are still working on this room in terms of art and placement, but it is already freshened up!<br />

Placing two slender lamps on the console behind the couch adds some needed lighting. Eventually a taller and skinnier art piece will be here to complete the vignette!<br />

I'll be sure to update you as we work through this beautiful house! Last week, I had the honor of guest posting about my latest DIY project for <a href="http://insidemypresent.blogspot.com/2012/05/diy-monogram-tray-trading-blogs-with.html" target="_blank">Inside My Present</a>. I thought I would share that project here for those of you who missed that post...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What I used:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A wooden tray from my closet</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Acrylic paint/brush (already had)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A stencil from my craft drawer</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Painters tape (already had)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A plastic cup (from my kitchen cabinet :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzTQ1L0fKi39O8V7MlUFsZVQsbSfXgehR-IZA6lFZB-a-D7GLkWXp88nN4zbSrbiDDkELy8CuUj6HOW7TUk1w4kE79jBDyl3AnEih7fca2b2srvW3pQ6bNNKlBHvNp4FqHeAoVIYp0Pqgs/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzTQ1L0fKi39O8V7MlUFsZVQsbSfXgehR-IZA6lFZB-a-D7GLkWXp88nN4zbSrbiDDkELy8CuUj6HOW7TUk1w4kE79jBDyl3AnEih7fca2b2srvW3pQ6bNNKlBHvNp4FqHeAoVIYp0Pqgs/s640/002.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
This lady had been sitting in the closet for oh, 5 or so years, and it was time I did something about it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghks381fFnlWtiXF2mov6Jn80y4gMXFIUOZgaJ2i1HXybWKOc-W1DaUiJoluatJepa2WDNLOfDays0i2Z7bZdwQ7SWibx2V8bqQximtpxhK9FXGNHANWsPgrKtW5L_bhXZB4N72QVnVxuy/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghks381fFnlWtiXF2mov6Jn80y4gMXFIUOZgaJ2i1HXybWKOc-W1DaUiJoluatJepa2WDNLOfDays0i2Z7bZdwQ7SWibx2V8bqQximtpxhK9FXGNHANWsPgrKtW5L_bhXZB4N72QVnVxuy/s640/004.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I decided to paint the inside of the tray to give it an updated look. I wanted to personalize it as a gift to someone, so I dug through my craft collection and got busy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCmf0mn_6kxwi17D0kesS0PthKbSI_QwTLrjGtJp0HHGQAcukrvDpjGhgXXx491N2TUsxhQz55L4oAQIH_-VwbTLeDIRQDD_qEkNmL4ZoMIcWqH9ByBAV254A0uKD-Cqy2rs7QTprWHdRF/s1600/paint.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="436" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCmf0mn_6kxwi17D0kesS0PthKbSI_QwTLrjGtJp0HHGQAcukrvDpjGhgXXx491N2TUsxhQz55L4oAQIH_-VwbTLeDIRQDD_qEkNmL4ZoMIcWqH9ByBAV254A0uKD-Cqy2rs7QTprWHdRF/s640/paint.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First, I taped it off and gave it a spray-paint primer coat. Once that was dry, I went back over it with acrylic paint to make sure the old image was gone. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMUOdKAvzhIddUURjFZsefbBY0zPSPPwe4rPqo2rg93lYxvc9NIYyeuSyoJNk4hAaQXtyx_vbvboTIkTtjCsLwS1DUkyVZeHEn9OPfI-Sijx8RJKz8HA8UufkuuyXw8MS7g0HDW5XRI2U_/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMUOdKAvzhIddUURjFZsefbBY0zPSPPwe4rPqo2rg93lYxvc9NIYyeuSyoJNk4hAaQXtyx_vbvboTIkTtjCsLwS1DUkyVZeHEn9OPfI-Sijx8RJKz8HA8UufkuuyXw8MS7g0HDW5XRI2U_/s640/006.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I love the bamboo look right now, so I decided to paint a bamboo-type pattern in gray, as kind of a tone on tone effect. I didn't want anything too bold for the print. Then I used a plastic cup to trace a circle in the center.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQz2_B45TU0PwL_l5JZiO5pQjUEHQT-COfIdKSRMMWvaEcBFesFPmQciRVXszYYv2ZeRt9VT3J89crVJhdyzIP4NdZa0DJGkmznik8VzWVIA2zkHum4QcsB0JUFbQN_djeylWn9cw3JgoJ/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="394" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQz2_B45TU0PwL_l5JZiO5pQjUEHQT-COfIdKSRMMWvaEcBFesFPmQciRVXszYYv2ZeRt9VT3J89crVJhdyzIP4NdZa0DJGkmznik8VzWVIA2zkHum4QcsB0JUFbQN_djeylWn9cw3JgoJ/s640/007.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I did all of the painting by hand with no measuring (because I'm impatient) so it's not perfect, but lets just say that adds to the charm, Ok? :) I chose a bold tangerine for the center so that the monogram would pop.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOkGVj5nQCd9Kdwwi3SkqGPak7KHu61_q6vpMZr-7LGTYvXSjcjXVRRlOyePd5djeX_J4dhb3lKZETe1fxDw5O0eB2rZZgJtotYRuCZiLfJuV-F9xFWEkxUp-bZKBQV22fvldDeLOkMCOf/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOkGVj5nQCd9Kdwwi3SkqGPak7KHu61_q6vpMZr-7LGTYvXSjcjXVRRlOyePd5djeX_J4dhb3lKZETe1fxDw5O0eB2rZZgJtotYRuCZiLfJuV-F9xFWEkxUp-bZKBQV22fvldDeLOkMCOf/s640/008.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Once everything was dry, I used a stencil that I already had and centered it on the dot. I used the white paint again to really make it stand out. <br />
Tip: Try to remove painters tape when your paint is still a little tacky for nice lines. As for the stencil, I like to remove it immediately for the best results.<br />
Now, for a quick reminder:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI0Vy8KMtHhKg3J3sgIfuwNfyPn1bpBH36gQkIzfMVvUSpd3Z8bcS7BuztSW6Ah9pSllA3BczfCKKzfkv_Ukwvwnhmzp-MR6Ie6e3VoZrDp-TheDTz0QKqDy7pyCDqOzjD1EL272CPdanu/s1600/bubble+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="432" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI0Vy8KMtHhKg3J3sgIfuwNfyPn1bpBH36gQkIzfMVvUSpd3Z8bcS7BuztSW6Ah9pSllA3BczfCKKzfkv_Ukwvwnhmzp-MR6Ie6e3VoZrDp-TheDTz0QKqDy7pyCDqOzjD1EL272CPdanu/s640/bubble+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
And here is the finished product! About an hour and a half total time spent, all with things I had on-hand!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8zpJuASiUaC6Yxd5FadMKcqX7W6SB_7u5uwPZkWtrJhZ99hQymRDLnzo0nelc2SnRilRkxtbRFkfc3_UoFx7cWBiWm9a3Lpe3cKXhiVlznbZfZC3gwSrQOn-5sJxPxv_gRTY-ya1JScf2/s1600/bubble+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="416" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8zpJuASiUaC6Yxd5FadMKcqX7W6SB_7u5uwPZkWtrJhZ99hQymRDLnzo0nelc2SnRilRkxtbRFkfc3_UoFx7cWBiWm9a3Lpe3cKXhiVlznbZfZC3gwSrQOn-5sJxPxv_gRTY-ya1JScf2/s640/bubble+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Although I'm giving it as a gift, I thought I would do a little "staging" to give you an idea of how to use this easy and personlized piece!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can just see some yummy cheeses displayed on it to pair with a nice wine!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Check out <a href="http://insidemypresent.blogspot.com/2012/05/diy-monogram-tray-trading-blogs-with.html" target="_blank">Inside My Present</a> today to see my post as well!<br />
<br />
Let me introduce myself, my name is Lauren (coincidence, I know!) and I write a little blog called <a href="http://insidemypresent.blogspot.com/">Inside My Present</a>. It's all about cooking, eating, home and garden and anything else I get myself into- truly a glimpse into my present! I am so happy to be appearing on such a chic blog as part of Trading Blogs- Lauren has already got me yearning to pick up a paint brush and hit the thrift store!<br />
<br />
Today I'm going to share with you a craft with endless possibilities- beautiful fabric-covered picture frames. A great solution for your thrifty finds and those remnant fabrics, you can take any drab frame and customize it to match your decor or the theme of your photo. A custom frame also makes a great gift! This one is for my mother for Mother's Day- shh... don't tell!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOi3SICB5m8BiLf37dXmbSuC-U8cxeD2l6tFVup45IBiFRmXhV70sNB_wdz7kzHA83nJXMdx-vF2kZ_Q37RPYzg6HqCEU6kKf1z7ZheikrFqfR9yofEJ5DJwjOFlE50tojPGh4DMzFXGk/s1600/IMG_2323.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOi3SICB5m8BiLf37dXmbSuC-U8cxeD2l6tFVup45IBiFRmXhV70sNB_wdz7kzHA83nJXMdx-vF2kZ_Q37RPYzg6HqCEU6kKf1z7ZheikrFqfR9yofEJ5DJwjOFlE50tojPGh4DMzFXGk/s640/IMG_2323.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
This project started with this frame that just wasn't my style. I wanted to refinish it somehow to blend with mom's decor- paint wasn't an option on the frame's mosaic surface but fabric choices were endless. I found a beautiful pewter fabric and some coordinating accents and got to work.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, you couldn't disassemble this particular frame so I used painter's tape to protect the glass before spraying the front of the frame with spray adhesive. The spray adhesive worked perfectly for this project- it didn't discolor the fabric or show any lumps or bumps below.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYvUwqOqRyBkFQJi46JXWkcrC3ycw7iBrvF4kjTLHYwu9oMfM3MHJ5vYycGDPdRPgv2EuUoKUnWHVKh6waU52I7AHlO5jW07q1WaW2aqji044lkI0BcFF61yGpHmlvRGzKdbI7rrZMYNw/s1600/IMG_2285.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYvUwqOqRyBkFQJi46JXWkcrC3ycw7iBrvF4kjTLHYwu9oMfM3MHJ5vYycGDPdRPgv2EuUoKUnWHVKh6waU52I7AHlO5jW07q1WaW2aqji044lkI0BcFF61yGpHmlvRGzKdbI7rrZMYNw/s640/IMG_2285.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I used an exacto knife to cut out the fabric covering the glass, making sure the edges were adhered well, and used fabric glue to glue the fabric to the back of the frame.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUD9bkhmfopbtoDrDC8gzOUvEAHsPW57oh9FYBmhyPHASAt45ks3JJhyphenhyphenFE79E-t7OgRJzAHdp6S_MJHRCJAn268khSUm8z3krhFZD78jYAFbAorVxGxsoUKLa_cwpuSZ5nGfhN8C4f3Do/s1600/IMG_2288.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUD9bkhmfopbtoDrDC8gzOUvEAHsPW57oh9FYBmhyPHASAt45ks3JJhyphenhyphenFE79E-t7OgRJzAHdp6S_MJHRCJAn268khSUm8z3krhFZD78jYAFbAorVxGxsoUKLa_cwpuSZ5nGfhN8C4f3Do/s640/IMG_2288.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Depending on the look you want, you could be done at this step! If you have some fabrics you want to showcase, they would look great unadorned and perhaps grouped together on a table. Or you could use some fabric glue to add accents of a coordinating fabric. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqb6cpaHQkoAbQgVsTHz7E0UHDoboL_zVw2FeQz7u2MMziopAAqZP7m-pV7ktoPwzsdq0ndbnlxaR0M-HcgA0ns67AvoJ8SmhOMtESjVKuNmp3gYRqG_jcBFW8AaRhxkRflP_eEIPWAfY/s1600/IMG_2326.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqb6cpaHQkoAbQgVsTHz7E0UHDoboL_zVw2FeQz7u2MMziopAAqZP7m-pV7ktoPwzsdq0ndbnlxaR0M-HcgA0ns67AvoJ8SmhOMtESjVKuNmp3gYRqG_jcBFW8AaRhxkRflP_eEIPWAfY/s640/IMG_2326.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can decorate your frame with anything your glue will stick to! Have some mementos from your latest vacation? Showcase them on your frame with a photo from the trip. Use your collection of old keys, buttons or broaches- anything! I decided to decorate mine with these pretty fabric flowers I had made and some ribbon- you can read how to make the flowers <a href="http://insidemypresent.blogspot.com/2012/04/how-to-make-fabric-flowers.html">here</a>. </div>

I have a ton of nicked up frames I'm looking forward to refinishing- I'm thinking a groups of burlap-covered frames would look great! </div>

A couple of weeks ago I shared this picture along with some more master bathroom updates. You can see more info on this ongoing project <a href="http://midsouthstagers.blogspot.com/2012/02/its-construction-zone-around-here.html" target="_blank">HERE</a> and <a href="http://midsouthstagers.blogspot.com/2012/04/bathroom-remodel-update.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The master closet is the second part of this project and you can't see it, but there is a door to the right when you walk in the bathroom that leads to it...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyXLXMHdh-_ur1BWIRUGdtzP5Q3v3CXXXdaied_dQZ7k1ita9HAR9UlqvtfYZg8iqlwojiEVDkqXK258lWrO3u_8nlKW5XLYTxeOgzPFlsJ9NEXyL6Uq7bof7EXDhoXBwkh2lXyng9V7lN/s1600/020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyXLXMHdh-_ur1BWIRUGdtzP5Q3v3CXXXdaied_dQZ7k1ita9HAR9UlqvtfYZg8iqlwojiEVDkqXK258lWrO3u_8nlKW5XLYTxeOgzPFlsJ9NEXyL6Uq7bof7EXDhoXBwkh2lXyng9V7lN/s640/020.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was originally a small closet with sliding double doors. You can see where the old wall was where the floor has been repaired.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5_QwnBLGFUi-h5tmi2BC5_I7-kb83je5wVo-mGxyUiTPR9Z6HhbsELfJKhoBSzZPTKISntxchJglEfQaozobRZiQrgnTjmpKD_Rspf6j1M0nVlSyMicKtvZ8J7clRHQoU6Y14jh0QjDfs/s1600/014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5_QwnBLGFUi-h5tmi2BC5_I7-kb83je5wVo-mGxyUiTPR9Z6HhbsELfJKhoBSzZPTKISntxchJglEfQaozobRZiQrgnTjmpKD_Rspf6j1M0nVlSyMicKtvZ8J7clRHQoU6Y14jh0QjDfs/s640/014.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
This base that goes all the way around the room is going to be wall to ceiling built-ins to house hanging clothes, shoe racks,and drawers. <br />
But let's step back to show you exactly where this is:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPl2sFlYM9cJJyS0J7BLXLL4EbZ6tfK-RDtGd-Z8xznoogiaM1nTOKOrcbC-koAat0WmTIaV448UPMdLyWkDc0PqK1bBBlzR6crEXL90_pj2UiONzbLTYAtvzFTouQF5QLJlh4dE6blW6Y/s1600/022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPl2sFlYM9cJJyS0J7BLXLL4EbZ6tfK-RDtGd-Z8xznoogiaM1nTOKOrcbC-koAat0WmTIaV448UPMdLyWkDc0PqK1bBBlzR6crEXL90_pj2UiONzbLTYAtvzFTouQF5QLJlh4dE6blW6Y/s640/022.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
This view is looking into the bathroom (on the left) and the closet (on the right) from the master bedroom...before the drywall was up.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTZJcgJOjK75Jo8Ps5iBIcf3lQN42008XEMZN6J3KzN4k63jTXEkcNd0WZUprM6q-C_oKnxryzPEh79Q-nRVBJKNQJpuoId_NpB8UPQxmTRMwWAcq2CEFoFkTBgnGzy2UNKCY9p-YOPKWq/s1600/025.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTZJcgJOjK75Jo8Ps5iBIcf3lQN42008XEMZN6J3KzN4k63jTXEkcNd0WZUprM6q-C_oKnxryzPEh79Q-nRVBJKNQJpuoId_NpB8UPQxmTRMwWAcq2CEFoFkTBgnGzy2UNKCY9p-YOPKWq/s640/025.JPG" width="428" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you step into the closet, you can see where it used to be a closet/hallway combo, with the hallway looking into the Great room. That trim around the door is where the closet started. Right along that far right blue line.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyQpJEdzZJpczkHGrZ7FFEhSNuO9NpRWa-JnHH_H7JCuLbTMyErYHxfAL5TflDNQxiaLsm_DGVOVp2C1jsW9NqcH2Py5pyFbZbAcSrSfY1qd3DAPEtXmpT9KzG5NFgt3vYJn71lzHmd9OP/s1600/015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyQpJEdzZJpczkHGrZ7FFEhSNuO9NpRWa-JnHH_H7JCuLbTMyErYHxfAL5TflDNQxiaLsm_DGVOVp2C1jsW9NqcH2Py5pyFbZbAcSrSfY1qd3DAPEtXmpT9KzG5NFgt3vYJn71lzHmd9OP/s640/015.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And now the door is closed up, floors are patched (and will be re-stained), and the bases are built! This has pretty much doubled the size of the closet. And in case you are confused by this view, the bathroom door is just out of sight to the left.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Like I said in the last post, I will continue to update you on the master bath/closet as it progresses!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
See you back for "Thrifted Thursday"!</div>Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01097317006753884451noreply@blogger.com1
